ABOUT THE PROJECT

Park Turopolje is designed as a new multifunctional public space that combines nature, local identity, and the everyday needs of the community. The park concept is based on recognizable local themes—the railway and the timber industry—which are translated into a spatial experience through the main “green promenade” and cultural-educational facilities, along with play, sports, relaxation, and gathering zones.

The park is organised into clearly defined zones connected by primary, accessible paths, allowing it to function as a coherent whole for all generations, children, young people, families and older residents, while providing facilities that raise the quality of outdoor stay and create a setting for community events.

EU ALIGNMENT AND PROJECT LOGIC

Park Turopolje is established as green infrastructure with measurable impact: it increases shade and improves the microclimate, reduces overheating, enables natural retention and infiltration of rainwater, and enhances biodiversity through thoughtful greening and planting of native species. Thus, the park becomes a functional climate and ecological system, not merely a recreational space.

At the same time, the park is designed as an inclusive public space with a single standard of use. Accessibility and equal usability are embedded in the movement logic, paths and urban furniture, so the space is legible and safe for all users, including persons with disabilities and reduced mobility, children, families and older people.
