ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Balloon Sports Hall was developed as an addition to Velika Gorica’s existing sports infrastructure, with the aim of increasing training capacity and improving the organisation of sports activities in the city. It enables year-round use and helps relieve pressure on school and municipal halls, especially in programmes for children and young people.

The facility includes three courts, changing rooms and storage space, with improved access and parking, and is designed for training and competitions across multiple indoor sports. The Balloon Sports Hall was officially opened on 13 December 2025, on the occasion of the City Day of Velika Gorica.

EU ALIGNMENT AND PROJECT LOGIC

At the core of the project is a clearly defined function and programme structure focused on functionality, accessibility and long-term usability. This delivers measurable public impact through accessible sports infrastructure—more available time slots, higher utilisation and a broader range of users, including para-sport and deaf sport athletes.

Through a review of the technical documentation and the preparation of the Project Justification Study, Kubik plus ensured that the key requirements of the public investment are deliverable and verifiable: functionality, safety and accessibility were translated into concrete design measures (accessible parking spaces, step-free access to the facility, and adapted sanitary and changing facilities). The project was implemented with public co-financing, with the Government of the Republic of Croatia providing €400,000 in co-financing.
