ABOUT THE PROJECT

ŠRC Banovac was designed as a complex facility—an integrated sports and recreation complex involving the reconstruction of the existing building, the construction of new supporting infrastructure, and the arrangement of outdoor sports facilities. The concept design defined the key interventions: reconstruction of the sports centre building, construction of a bowling facility, outdoor sports courts, site landscaping, and an access road with utility infrastructure.

The project was prepared over the long term and through multiple phases, because it was clear from the outset that a complex of this kind can rarely be delivered “all at once”. This approach has proven crucial: the completed stages have clear functional value and can operate independently, while at the same time remaining part of a future unified whole.

EU ALIGNMENT AND PROJECT LOGIC

The EU logic of ŠRC Banovac is not a generic “sports story”, but a logic of deliverability and public impact: the overall spatial concept was from the outset structured into realistically deliverable phases, enabling step-by-step implementation without losing the project’s overarching vision. The project was therefore set up as a complex facility with phases and stages, as a practical tool for risk management and real-world delivery.

Kubik plus prepared the concept design for the entire complex, then delivered the main and detailed design and carried out designer’s supervision for the key stages—the reconstruction of the sports centre building (E3) and the renewal of the main football pitch with an athletics track (E5/1). Each completed stage functions independently, while remaining a foundation for future phases aligned with the city’s long-term needs.
